I joined OTECH for a jumpstart…get a course done and jumpstart a career…so many opportunities opened up.
Machining Technology Graduate
OTECH brings you something special that you can’t get anywhere else…my hands-on experience at OTECH has prepared me for my future career…grateful that OTECH has given me the knowledge to be able and confident when I start.
Composites, Drafting and Design, Machining Technology Graduate
Learn basic procedures and machining operations, including safety practices, data sheets, and use of basic measuring tools.
Read and interpret mechanical blueprints to calculate dimensions and determine data, including the basics of technical mathematics.
Practice hands-on skills on industry-standard equipment so that you are fully prepared to work in the field.
Understand CNC machining and operations. Learn how to create CNC programs manually and perform part production and inspection.
Learn cutting tool geometry and theory to optimize tool life and achieve desired results.
Operate and maintain CNC machines to manufacture precision parts and components.
Operate manual machine tools, including mills, drills, and grinders, to produce precision parts and components.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of parts produced by CNC machines.
Oversee the daily operations of a machine shop, ensuring production goals and quality standards are met.
Manage all aspects of the operation and success of a machine shop, including production, employees, customer relationships, and finances.
The Machining Technology program trains students to use machine tools to produce complex parts used in every industry. Machinists are trained to use various turning, milling, grinding, and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines to produce these complex parts. Machinists are also tasked to interpret an engineer’s drawings to process the desired part. The Machining Technology program is structured to give students a solid foundation in the core fundamentals of machining and launch a career in a field that is always in high demand.
