It is the student’s responsibility to initiate the reasonable accommodation process by submitting an Accommodation Request Form to the ADA Coordinator. Please plan ahead to allow time for processing. Documentation may be required to verify the disability and the need for accommodations. Contact the ADA Coordinator as early as possible, as certain accommodations—such as interpreters—may require additional time to arrange.
Upon receiving a request, the ADA Coordinator will work with qualified individuals to determine reasonable accommodations through a personalized process.
The ADA Coordinator will assess accommodation requests based on the nature and requirements of the courses, programs, or activities, and the medical documentation.
In cases of disagreement regarding requested accommodations, the ADA Coordinator will work with the student, faculty members, offices, or departments involved. While all requests are considered, the college is not obligated to fundamentally change its academic programs, services, or activities, or to approve accommodations that would create an unreasonable burden to the institution.
Students who are not satisfied with the accommodation may submit an appeal using the college’s Appeals Process. [link to appeals process] [link to appeals form]
The college will consider the student’s accommodation preference but may offer alternative accommodations if they are deemed equally effective.
Students are responsible for notifying the ADA Coordinator if approved accommodations are not implemented in an effective or timely manner.
Students with disabilities will not be required to pay for approved aids and services. Additionally, they will not be charged more to participate in programs or activities than students without disabilities.
