What is NTHS?

Recognizing Excellence

OTECH recognizes student excellence through the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). Students who meet the requirements may be nominated by their instructor. Only the top 5% of students from each program per year receive nominations.

What does nTHS Do?
Honors Student Achievement

Attend an induction ceremony, receive honors regalia to wear at graduation, and have your membership appear on certificates and transcripts.

Access exclusive scholarships to help you further your education and advance your career. Apply at nths.org

Enhances Career Opportunities

Add membership to your resume, request custom letters of recommendation, and receive discounts on products and services to help you succeed.

NTHS Requirements

01

Must have completed at least 75% of program

02

100% completion rate, or all courses completed on the first attempt

Receive instructor nomination:

Instructors evaluate students based on these criteria:

 

  • Takes initiative and can work independently without instructor management.
  • Is a strong leader who sets an example for others. 
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Works well with others.

 

Each is scored using a points system based on how frequently they demonstrate these performance habits—rarely (1), usually (2), or always (3). 

Upcoming Induction Ceremonies
Spring 2026 All ceremonies are held on our campus in the Event Center at 6:00 PM. Inductees will receive an invitation in the mail 3-4 weeks before the ceremony.
