Program Overview

The Electrical Trades Preparation program was developed to meet the preparatory needs of individuals who are not yet employed in the field. It allows high school and adult students to gain knowledge and hands-on experience before entering an apprenticeship or obtaining an entry-level position.

The Electrical Trades Preparation program meets the preparatory needs of individuals who are not yet employed in the field or individuals who are first-year apprentices maintaining their Related Technical Instruction (RTI) in line with on-the-job training (OJT).

Lab Hours
This is a hybrid program. Complete coursework online and come to the classroom for labs and hands-on skills.

Day: M-F 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Day: M-F 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Eve: T-Th 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Matthew Standing

Matt Standing graduated from Ogden-Weber Technical College in Electrical Trades in 1999 and has 28 years of experience in the electrical industry, specializing in industrial, commercial, and residential electrical wiring. Prior to joining the OTECH team, Matt owned his own electrical company in Idaho. For the past 6 years, Matt has worked at OTECH as an electrical instructor and loves working with students, sharing his passion for the electrical field. Most of all, Matt enjoys seeing his students find their passion for the electrical industry.
