Program Overview

Practical Nurses work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, home health, and hospice. Working under the direction of a registered nurse or provider, licensed practical nurses perform patient assessments, administer medications, perform sterile and non-sterile procedures, and assist patients with their personal hygiene, mobility, and nutritional and elimination needs.

The Practical Nursing program provides essential nursing skills through classroom instruction, lab simulations, and clinical practice. Graduates are well prepared to take the NCLEX-PN exam and work as a Licensed Practical Nurse, with the option to pursue further education toward becoming a Registered Nurse.

Madison is the Practical Nursing program manager. She brings a diverse experience in healthcare, including education, infection prevention, long-term care, home health/hospice, obstetrical, and medical/surgical. She received her nursing education at Weber State University with a B.S. in Nursing and a Master of Nursing Education at Western Governors University. Education and learning are a passion, and she loves sharing knowledge with students.
